The Chronicles of Convocation: Official Photos

Almost forgot the official photos. Umm maybe because I looked ugly in these pics. And ugly shoes. (note: if you want to wear high heels during convocation, don’t go study in UIA) :P

Miscellaneous

1) Convo chronicles, the end

Last Saturday I went to UIA with Ado to do my final business with UIA i.e. return the convo robe, collect photograph, collect DVD, and we took some final pictures of me in UIA wearing convo robe. Though it still turned out to be unfinished business coz I have to go back again to collect scroll as the office is only opened weekdays for this purpose. Also the commemorative book. Do people really have to take leave from office only to collect scroll at university??

2) Ado’s moving

After tons of room and house ads we’ve been checking I found one room somewhere which finally turns out to be OK for him to stay, and there goes my weekend helping him moving his stuff which are ridiculously alot more than you would expect to be a guy’s property. I mean, he’s still keeping the food mixer (and food packets) which his sister left a couple of years ago =_= and textbooks and exam papers and unnecessary lot of clothes and kitchen ware. And washing machine. And oven. Sigh. The wonderful thing about helping him to move that I have discovered many of his stuff from past and I was impressed by the fact that he actually used to be a good and organized and ambitious student!

3) Ramadan

I was only able to start my Quran reading the day before yesterday and today I made my first Tarawih prayers at nearby mosque. Not a good start, but hmm. Anyway I didn’t expect there would be alot of people in the mosque which is in the other side of the road. The imam’s reciting only short surah, and there are many children, otherwise I would enjoy my first tarawih in here.

4) Going home?

Mama keeps asking if I would like to come home during Ramadan to break fast with them. These weeks have been so hectic I hardly have time to clean room and wash clothes and day sleep so I couldnt even think of losing another weekend to go home =_= But today I found myself applying leave for next Friday so I’m going home Thursday night! :)

5) Kelisa is at it again

Hmm so I am supposed to take care of the car as my own car now despite the fact that I only afford to pay half of this month’s car payment (and I just started paying this month actually) and since lately it’s been heavily raining I have had a few times waterfall inside my car. And it’s NOT cool :( My car rooftop is leaking, how unfunny is that? I really have to go to Perodua service or sme workshop soon to let them do something with this weird phenomenon. And earlier I have spent more than RM100 to change engin oil and the wiper. I am getting poor.

6) Ado

I dont know if I should write this here, but in a few weeks he may have to leave this country if they don’t approve his visa renewal. And I fully understand if that happens and nobody will be surprised. I dont know if I should be sad or happy. I don’t want to lose him, but at the same time I would feel relieve if he goes back to his family because I honestly think he can have a good life again there.

The Chronicles of Convocation: Post-convo mood

Hiya WordPress. I don’t know where to start. Been lazy to write. Lazy to get up. Lazy to come to work. Lazy to do work. Lazy to have lunch. Lazy to clean room. In fact, been lazy, full stop.

Please don’t take too much attention to that accidentally big-sized photo I put on last post. *blushing* I say accidentally coz I was practically fooled by that very small sized Compaq B1200 laptop belongs to Ima that I was using over the weekend when we were staying in hotel. Having been used to huge desktop screen, I couldnt really tell the image size that looked like somewhat 300×225 on that tiny 12″ laptop screen, when I was preparing for that post. And when I came back to my PC I gasped “what the hell did I put such huge photo for??”. Haiyah, but I am too lazy to change. Never mind lah.

In summary, convo was nice. But I didn’t take alot of photos as I had expected. Coz it was raining, and I hardly found my friends after the session, maybe coz we were in evening session and it ended late and everyone didn’t stay long afterwards. Only had pics with Lenya (again), and Isuma during the queuing and Akmal that I encountered on the way to cafetaria. The rest are pics of me alone and with family. And like many other girls who don’t have pocket on the dress to bring along mobile phone/camera inside the hall, my trick was to attach the mobile purse inside the convo robe :D so I was lucky to capture my own videos and pics during the convo gathering. Hehe. When I have time I’ll upload them in my Flickr :)

Ado was not there. Coz I was not sure if I should invite him. But I did send him my picture during the queuing. With a note, “wish you were here”. Which implicitly means, “wish you were here receiving your scroll too, but why you’re taking so long to finish your studies when you’re supposed to have been 2 years earlier than me??”

Umm. What else? Oh, you got to see my room new look. On the last day my parents in KL (when my sisters have already gone back to their places) they came to visit my apartment, and there goes the transformation of the room. I just hopelessly let my parents arrange stuff and furniture in my room, and Mama brought a curtain to put, and thanks to them now at least I can see some empty space in that tiny area. Happy sigh.

By the way I am not moving this time around.

I think I have some more things to write. Until next time.

The Chronicles of Convocation: The Day

24 August 2008

The Chronicles of Convocation: OMG

Hey you strangers who keep checking here though I havent updated lately.

I have been busy.

One. Work.

Two. Convocation preparation.

Three. Family coming over.

Four. Find new laptop for Ima. (Now I’m testing this)

Five. Help Ado find new house/room. Life is always not easy for this guy.

Six. Find myself a new house. Cheaper flat, but nearer to workplace and I’ll have my own bathroom.

Seven. Get busy with Ado. Long story, and he might not be a perfect man for me but he loves me and he’s been wonderful. He wants to be with me. He seems to have learned something.

So okay.

Since I love him still.

It seems it’s me now who can’t seem to learn from past. Hmm..

I’ll be attending my graduation with a very happy mood :)

By the way I wish this post was invisible.

The Chronicles of Convocation: Part 3

Days left until convocation: 7

Yesterday I went to UIA to collect the convocation robe. Arrived there around 10am and it was a crowd already. Lenya arrived after 10 minutes and we proceeded to CAC hall. First, we got to present the slip of tracer study and robe collection form to the respective counter. And they gave us the invitation card, convocation smart card, and later we went to pick up the robe.

The Chronicles of Convocation: Rehearsal Video

Because this year they eliminate the stage where the graduates have to come to do the ceremony rehearsal, instead they provide us the videos of last year’s rehearsal to study.

1) Before convocation
2) During convocation
3) After convocation

(available at www.iiu.edu.my/convo)

A rememberance of the Songkok era :) However I dont know by watching videos alone can make me understand the steps or not. Hmm.

The Chronicles of Convocation: Tracer Study

Continuing the drama of UIA Alumni and MOHE Tracer Study.

Episode 1: UIA Alumni Tracer Study

After the 10th time the surveys kept loading page 3 no matter how hard I pressed “save & proceed”, I knew there’s something wrong with the system. Luckily I was not surprised, though. So I called UIA Alumni telling the problem and they forwarded me to the system programmer. The conversation was something like this.

Me: I’ve been stuck at page 3. It’s about the co-curriculum activity
Her: Did you tick yes or no at the field did you join any co-curricular activity?
Me: Yes. And there are like 20 different activities but I joined only one, so I ticked only one.
Her: If you tick yes above then you have to fill up ALL following activity fields.
Me: But I didn’t join all activities. (I mean, excuse me if I forgot, but did I spend 4 years in UIA joining twenty clubs??)
Her: Nevermind, but the system doesnt accept the answer if all are not filled.
Me: (WTF??)

Well yeah who cares if you don’t give correct information in an alumni survey, nobody will bother checking either. Plus you cannot be blamed when the fault comes from the system’s bad programming itself. Sigh. After that I finally finished the survey and printed the confirmation slip. That’s all we need for robe collection anyway.

2) Episode 2: MOHE Tracer Study

Umm at first attempt I tried to login like 5 times and they said my record doesnt exist. I didnt have time to try again until Lenya mentioned something about you have to download. And from the yahoo group they say the system really doesnt recognise everyone’s data (so not only me) and UIA Alumni made a spreadsheet copy of the survey to download and fill up and email back to them. Sappy procedure again. But I did. And today another update, the MOHE system is working again. So we need to do it online again. Hohoho so not funny.

The Chronicles of Convocation: Part 2

Days until Convocation: 14

Hmm and we’ve entered the second phase of Convocation preparation, now that today 10 August, the websites of UIA Alumni Tracer Study and Ministry of Higher Education’s Graduate Tracing System have been opened for us to complete the survey in order to be eligible for the convocation ceremony. Don’t know since when they started this sappy procedure, but for sure I don’t think my parents had to go for all these when they graduated, no?

Okay, I don’t mind spending some time completing the boring Alumni surveys (where questions are nothing but your opinion regarding the degree course you were studying before, its impact to your current career, the faculty, the university, the ohmy.. co-curricular activity, blah blah blah..), BUT PLEASE lah! Make sure your system is working well before you officially open it for thousands of people to access. I mean, why on earth have I been stuck at page 3 again and again regardless how many times I click “next”????

And this MOHE system is even worse. After entering my ID number and choosing university name, it turns up saying my record doesn’t exist!

Forget it. Anyways my baju kurung dress for convocation is ready! Nyeh nyeh nyeh :D Will take pictures later once I get all pieces ready (dress, headscarf, shoes..).

And next Saturday will be the first day to collect robe at CAC. I should be early coz I don’t want to be left with wrong sized robes for me! Plus as they open it on Saturday I don’t need to take a leave from work during weekdays just to collect robe.

Ado wants to see me. Again. I don’t know why but these days I guess I have been strong enough. I used to cry and get sad whenever I think of what happened to us, but I lately I see myself being all okay. I have been refusing to meet for 1.5 months now and though it’s hard but I’m happy that time does heal. Slowly. Anyways. He’s moving next month. I have so much to talk to him, but I guess I’ll wait after the convocation to see him or whatever. I want to be emotionally stable and happy to face my great day.

The Chronicles of Convocation: IIUM new robe!

Okay, okay, calm down people. I know everyone is busy googling for UIA brand new convocation robe picture. In case you have missed the Kosmo copy featuring a picture of some dudes wearing UIA new robes, here it is I am helping you. (Actually I had missed the picture as well until someone in yahoo group gave us the link).

Ta-da! Yeh, right side pic leh, left one was the old robe we’ve already said goodbye to (I wonder where they dumped those thousands old robes to??).

What do you think about the mortar board? Cool, eh? :) And what do you think about Brad Pitt wearing mortar board? Or do you prefer Brad Pitt wearing Songkok?

And is it just my feeling, or does the new robe really have senget cutting? (or is it because the pic taken from lower angle?). And they say new robe is lightweight, very comfortable. Unlike old robe which was thicker and heavy giving your shoulders a hard time supporting it.

P.S. I am no Brad Pitt fan.
